Wish you were there? The inaugural year of Bluebells, Picnics and Pictures

Blackbury Camp in east Devon is an incredible hidden gem of a place at any time of year but in May it is ridiculously stunning as it transforms a carpet of blue.  For a Devon portrait and landscape photographer it is my absolute dream!

I was first introduced to it by a client who chose to for the location of her family shoot so absolutely jumped at an invitation to join the fabulous Bethan from Little Devon Magazine in a collaborative picnic and pictures event.  Bluebells, portraits and cake?  Who could possibly turn down that combination?

If you haven’t discovered it yet, you really need to check out Little Devon Magazine as it provides all manner of interesting days out and local information for families who want to enjoy all that our wonderful county has to offer.  It attracts outdoors-loving families who want to explore new places and so working with Bethan seemed like the perfect opportunity to hang out with a small group of wonderful families (& we wanted to keep it small so that everyone got a chance to hang out and not feel like we overwhelmed the place.) whilst capturing some memorable pictures for them all.

Bethan provided a magnificently put together displace of cakes and drinks and I took each group off for a private mini-photo shoot amongst the bluebells.  The event proved so popular that we ran it again later in the week and sold that out within a day.

We’ve already had so much positive feedback and requests for a repeat next year.  If you’d like to be the first to know when we release places for the next event, sign up here.

Sadly the blue haze has gone for the year now but Blackbury Camp is definitely worth a visit at any time of year, and beech trees never disappoint in autumn.
