Pared-Back Wedding Photography in Devon, Cornwall & Somerset

“You really captured the essence of the day and the emotion without ever being intrusive. That is a real skill.”
— Fiona, Mother of the Bride

 You’re getting married?

Congratulations, that’s such wonderful news!  It is SUCH an exciting time in life! So now, you’ve got the mammoth task of organising a wedding.

But here’s the problem - just the idea of it fills you with dread. You don’t really care about what sort of car gets you to the venue or how many tiers the cake has.  You’ve never really noticed the flowers at anyone else’s wedding and the thought of a photographer following your every move and directing operations for 8 hours fills you with dread.

For some people, the whole wedding-planning thing is a dream come true.  They’ve envisaged every detail since they were small and now is the chance to execute the plan.  For others it seems like an overwhelming nightmare.  They would far rather pare it all back to the things that really matter to them.  It’s not budget wedding planning, just concentrating on the things that are really important rather than compromising on everything.

Does that sound like you?  There are a few things about your wedding day that really matter to you - celebrating your love and commitment to each other in the presence of some really special friends and family and creating some memories that you will treasure for a lifetime.  Everything else is just window dressing. Wouldn’t it be better to scrap some of the extras (dare I say, the ‘fluff’?) and concentrate on the things you really value?

For many people, there is something really appealing about scaling it right back to what really counts.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a good wedding.  I still treasure every moment of our wedding (including the flowers and cake), over 10 years ago now and every year on our anniversary, we sit down with a glass of something cold and look through our wedding album.  We’ve come to realise over the years that the best pictures are the ones of us being able to celebrate with our friends and family, and in some cases seeing happy interactions between people whose only connection to each other is us.

I’m a lifestyle portrait photographer which means that I like to keep in the background and capture  exactly these sorts of interactions between people. I want you to enjoy your day with those closest to you and I want to be able to provide you with a collection of beautiful images that you will be able to treasure and reminisce over in the decades to come.

I’m therefore delighted to be launching my wedding package.  I offer roughly 2-3 hours of coverage but will work with you to come up with a package that works best for you.  If you want full coverage from bridal prep to first dance, then wonderful, I’m there! However, if actually you think you’d rather concentrate on the key elements of ceremony, family and friends and a little ‘you time’ then let’s cut out the rest of it.

I will work with you to create something bespoke for you but a sample package could be:

Beforehand

  • Zoom call beforehand to discuss details;

  • Reccy of venue (where possible);

On the Day

  • Bride arrives at ceremony;

  • The ceremony, including the ‘I dos’;

  • The ‘meet and greet’ celebrations afterwards;

  • some ‘just you’ time together;

  • The start of the reception (you know, the mingling, trying to hold a drink and eat a canapé at the same time time);

Afterwards

  • 70-100 colour and black & white images;

  • Online viewing gallery to share with friends and family;

  • USB stick of all images;

  • 10 enlargements of your choice (up to 15x10”)

“The day was excellent, which was definitely helped by the fantastic photos you took”
— Will
